Malta Visa for Indians: A Comprehensive Guide
As an Indian citizen, you require a visa to enter Malta, a member of the European Union (EU) and the Schengen Area. The type of visa depends on the duration and purpose of your visit.
Issued within the last 10 years:
Ensure your passport was issued by the Indian government within the last decade. This is a security measure to prevent the use of outdated passports that may not contain modern security features.
Valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure date from the Schengen Area:
Your passport must remain valid for at least three months after you plan to leave the Schengen Area. For example, if you plan to stay in Malta until August 31st, your passport should be valid until at least November 30th.
With at least two blank pages:
Ensure your passport has enough blank pages for entry and exit stamps from the Schengen countries. Typically, two blank pages are sufficient, but this can vary.
Download from the Official Government of Malta's Website or the website of the Malta Embassy/Consulate in India:
The application form can usually be found in the "Visa" or "Consular Services" section of the official websites.

It is not possible to extend your short term Matese permit under normal conditions. Being a type of the Schengen, these are non-extendable. However, in certain extreme cases such as a Force Majeure, or other humanitarian reasons, you may be granted an extension. In case you are not granted one, you must leave the country immediately. The long term permits, however, may be extended depending upon the category.
The medical test requirements depend on the category of the permit. The short term permits, being issued for durations of less than 6 months, do not have a medical test requirement. However, the long term categories may require medical tests mandatory. In either case, it is suggested that you get a medical checkup before travelling to a new country.
There are no specific requirements to the exact amount you would need to show to apply for this permit. Based on the rules, you must provide proof that you have enough funds to support yourself for your entire stay duration. These include basic expenses such as food, travel, accommodation, etc.
