Once you have submitted the application for the visitor permit, it is then processed at the Embassy of Switzerland. Even though you have submitted it at a VAC, they will then forward it to the embassy in New Delhi. Note that the VAC has no decision making power over the processing. This is completely done by the Embassy.
Once the visa is approved, you can pick up the passport directly from the VAC, or you can have the VAC deliver it to you for an additional delivery charge.

Being a type of the Schengen C category, you are not allowed to extend this. The short term Swiss visitor permit is non-extendable in normal conditions. However, in certain extreme cases such as a Force Majeure, or other humanitarian reasons that prevent you from returning to your home country, you may be granted an extension.
As per the embassy regulations, there are no regulations on the exact amount of funds you must possess in order to get a Swiss visitor visa. As per the requirements, you must show that you have a stable bank account with steady transactions and that you have enough money to support your stay in Switzerland. If you are being sponsored, your sponsor must show that they have the funds to support you.
Once you have expired your Swiss visitor visa, you cannot stay back any longer. As per the regulations, you must leave the country before the expiry date. Staying back after this is considered as an offence and can get you deported, or in certain cases, you will be banned from re-entry into the Schengen region.
Since this visitor permit is issued for a stay duration of fewer than 90 days in Switzerland, there is no mandatory medical test requirement. No, it is not allowed to convert any of the Schengen C categories into another type. As a result, you will not be allowed to convert the visitor into a work type.
