The processing time for the business permit depends on the volume of applications as well as on how fast the embassy can verify your documents. Normally, the visa can be processed in just about 3 working days. However, in certain cases, it can even take longer. As a result, you must apply well in advance.
The fees for the Ethiopian business permit depends on the type of business you are doing (investing/meetings/conferences, etc). Since the fees for the e-visa is in USD, the amount you pay can also vary slightly depending on the foreign exchange rates with the INR. Once you have submitted the application, your business visa application will be processed by the embassy. Ensure that you provide correct information and provide genuine documents as you will not be able to modify the application. In case there is a change in your arrival date, you can contact the support team of the e-visa portal. You can extend the Ethiopia business permit easily. You must visit the Main Head Office of the Department for Immigration and Nationality Affairs in Addis Ababa and apply for an extension. If you are rejected, you must leave the country in order to avoid any penal action and fines.
After expiring your business permit, you cannot stay in the country any longer. If you do require to stay, you must apply for an extension. Staying back in the country after expiry and without a proper extension is considered as an offence and can lead to fines and other penal actions.
As per the rules, there are no mandatory medical test requirements for the business e-visas. Although, in order to be on the safer side, it is highly recommended that you get vaccinations done and complete a routine test medical check-up before travelling to Ethiopia.
No, it is not permitted or possible to convert the business permit into a work permit. You are also not allowed to work on the payroll of an Ethiopian company on this. If you do require to work, you must apply for a work permit once you are back in our home country.
Due to the lower cost of living in Ethiopia, there is no particular requirement for a bank statement. As a result, you do not necessarily need to prove that you have a certain amount of funds. However, it is advised to ensure that you have enough funds to support your entire stay duration in the country.
