With the Slovakia visitor visa, you can now enter the country to meet your family/friends living there.
More commonly known as the Slovakia Schengen visitor visa, this permit allows you to enter Slovakia if you are being invited by a family member or friend living in the country. Being a type of the Schengen short term permit, this is issued for a short stay duration of fewer than 90 days in a 180-day period. Depending on the number of times you would have to exit and enter the Schengen zone, you can get it as single-entry, double-entry, or even multiple-entries.
The application for the Slovakian visitor permit is made offline. Before starting the application, you must ensure that you meet all the eligibility conditions for the category. After this, you may proceed to make the application as follows -

The processing time for the Slovakian visitor permit is dependent on the validity, the number of entries, the volume of visa applications at the embassy, as well as your previous travel history. Normally, you can expect a processing time of about 15 working days. However, this can even take up to 30 days or 60 days in extreme cases. As a result, it is suggested that you apply well in advance.
The application fees for the Slovakian visitor visa is dependent upon the currency exchange rates and the embassy. The embassy has the right to change the fees without any prior notice. Apart from the application fee, there will be biometric charges, delivery charges, as well as any service charges levied by the VAC. As a result, you must check the exact amount before starting the application.

Once you have submitted the visitor visa application at one of the VACs, it is then forwarded to the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi for processing. Note that even though you have submitted the application at a VAC, the processing is in the hands of the embassy alone. The VAC has no control over the processing.
If your visa has been approved, you can collect your passport directly from the VAC, or have it delivered to you for an additional charge.

Once you have successfully received the permit, you must keep in mind the following points -
It is not possible to extend the Slovakian visitor permit under normal conditions as it is a Schengen short term category. However, in certain extreme cases such as a Force Majeure, or other humanitarian reasons, you may be granted an extension. In all other cases, you will not be able to extend it and must leave the country before expiry.
Once you have expired your Slovakian visitor permit, you are not allowed to stay back any longer. You are expected to leave the country before the exact date of expiry. Staying back after this period is considered illegal and can lead to deportation, or in certain cases even lead you to be banned from entering the Schengen zone again.
Since the visitor visa for the Slovak Republic is issued only for a short stay duration of fewer than 90 days, there are no mandatory medical test requirements. However, the long term categories and residence permits will require medical tests as per the individual type. Either way, it is suggested that you get a health checkup before travelling abroad.
No, it is not possible to convert any of the Slovakian Schengen short term permits into another type. You are also not allowed to take part in any paid work while you are on this permit. You can, however, take part in unpaid volunteer or charity work. If you do require a work permit, you must apply it once you are back in your home nation.
Yes, you are permitted to travel to other Schengen countries on your visitor visa. Even if your family/friends are in Slovakia, you are free to move around the Schengen zone. Being a Schengen country, the Slovak Republic facilitates a visa-free agreement with other Schengen countries. You can, however, travel to only the European countries that are also a part of the Schengen. Despite this, there are a few non-European countries that allow you to enter them with a Schengen visa. Eg:- Croatia.
Since it takes around 15 working days to process the Slovakian visitor application under normal processing conditions, it is suggested that you must apply at least 15 days before the date of travel. However, you are not allowed to apply more than 3 months before the travel date.
