What is Slovakia Business Visa?

Also known as the Slovakia Schengen business visa, this is issued for people entering Slovakia for the purpose of engaging in business-related activities. The permit is issued for a maximum stay duration of 90 days in a 180-day period. The exact duration and validity depend on the decision of the consular officer processing your application. The permit can be issued as single-entry, double-entry, or multiple-entry depending upon the number of times you would have to exit and enter the Schengen zone. 

How to Apply for Slovakia Business Visa?

The application for the Slovakia business visa from India is made offline. Before starting the application, you must ensure that you meet all the eligibility conditions for the business permit. After this, you may proceed to make the application as follows - 

  1. The first step is to obtain all the documents you would need for the business category.
  2. After this, you must visit the website of the Slovakian embassy in India and download the Schengen application form.
  3. Fill in the form with all the relevant details including the purpose of your visit as ‘business’. 
  4. Proceed to book your appointment at one of the VACs located across India. 
  5. Attend the visa appointment with the completed application form, appointment confirmation, documents and fees in person. You will also have to submit your biometrics here. 

Note that if you have submitted your biometrics for the application for any of the Schengen visas in the past 5 years, you do not have to submit them again. Also, ensure that you provide only genuine documents and correct information. Providing false information or forged documents are grounds for automatic Schengen visa rejection.

Eligibility for Slovakia Business Visa

To be able to apply for the business permit, you must meet the following conditions - 

  • You must be living in the country you are lodging the application. If you are residing in a residence permit in any foreign nation, you may apply it to the corresponding visa authority in that country.
  • You must possess a valid passport meeting all the regulations.
  • The sole purpose of your visit must be to take part in business-related activities such as meetings, conferences, etc.
  • You must possess sufficient funds to cover all your expenses during the entire stay period in Slovakia.
  • You must apply for the permit only if Slovakia-
    1. Is your only destination, or
    2. Is one of your multiple Schengen destinations, in which case you will be spending the majority of the time here, or, 
    3. Is your port of entry into the Schengen region.

Documents Required for Slovakia Business Visa

The list of documents you must submit for this category are as follows - 

  • A valid passport- 
    1. It must contain at least 2 blank pages.
    2. It should not be older than 10 years.
    3. It should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel.
    4. Old passports, if any, are to be attached.
  • Invitation letter from the Slovakian organisation/company stating complete details of the visit.

    3. It should clearly state the purpose and duration of the visit.
    4. It must be on the company letterhead and must contain the seal.

Processing Time of Slovakia Business Visa

The processing time for the business permit is dependent on the validity, the number of entries, the volume of visa applications at the embassy, as well as your previous travel history. After Submission

Once you have submitted the business visa application at one of the VACs, it is then forwarded to the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi for processing. Note that even though you have submitted the application at a VAC, the processing is in the hands of the embassy alone. The VAC has no influence on the processing. 

If your visa has been approved, you can collect it directly from the VAC, or have it delivered to you for an additional charge.

When you have this visa

Once you have successfully been issued with a visa, you must keep in mind the following points to ensure a pleasant stay -

  • Keep note of the expiry date, the duration of stay, as well as the number of entries mentioned on the visa sticker. You must strictly follow these.
  • Ensure that you carry all your travel documents while travelling. You will be denied entry into Slovakia without this. 
  • Ensure that you travel to Slovakia within 6 months of the visa issue date, or as mentioned in the Schengen sticker. After this date, your permit will become invalid and you will not be able to enter the country.

How Can I Extend My Slovakia Schengen Business Visa?

It is not possible to extend the Slovakian business permit under normal conditions as it is a Schengen short term category. However, in certain extreme cases such as a Force Majeure, or other humanitarian reasons, you may be granted an extension. In all other cases, you must not try to extend the visa and must leave the country before expiry. 

After Expiring My Slovakia Business Visa, How Long Can I Stay?

After you have expired the Slovakian business permit, you are not supposed to stay back in the country for any amount of time. As per the Schengen laws, you must leave the country before the expiry date. Staying back after this period is considered as an offence, and can get you deported, and in some other cases even be banned from entering the Schengen zone again. 

What is the Medical Test for Slovakia Schengen Business Visa?

Since the business visa is issued only for a short duration of fewer than 90 days, there are no mandatory medical test requirements. The long term D permits will require medical tests as per the individual type. Either way, it is recommended that you get a health checkup before travelling to a foreign country. 

Can I convert My Slovakia Schengen Business Visa into a Work permit?

No, it is not possible to convert the Slovakian business category permits into another type. You are also not allowed to take part in paid work while you are on this permit. You can take part in unpaid charity or voluntary work. If you do require to work, you must apply for a visa once you are back in your home country.

Can I Travel to other Schengen or European Countries on a Slovakia Business Visa?

Yes, you are allowed to travel to other Schengen countries on this permit. Being a Schengen country, Slovakia participates in a visa-free agreement with other Schengen countries. However, you can only travel to European countries that are a part of the Schengen. Although, there are a few non-European countries that allow you entry with a Schengen visa. Eg:- Croatia. 

How many months before the trip should I apply for a Slovakia Business Visa?

As per the embassy, it takes around 15 working days to process the application under normal conditions excluding the transit time. As a result, it is suggested that you apply at least 15 days before the date of travel. However, you are not allowed to apply for more than 3 months before the travel date.
