Cyprus Tourist Visa Guide for Indians 2026

Before you start your Cyprus visa application, make sure you have these essentials ready:

• Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date, with at least 2 blank pages
• Two recent passport-size photographs (35mm x 45mm, white background, face covering 70-80% of photo height, no glasses, signed on the back)

The entire town of Paphos is a UNESCO site — home to the extraordinary Roman mosaics of the House of Dionysus, the Tombs of the Kings carved into rock cliffs, and the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite on the rocky shoreline. The mosaics are among the finest in the Mediterranean.

Limassol, the cosmopolitan heart. A vibrant harbour city with a medieval castle, an ancient Kourion archaeological site perched on a clifftop overlooking the sea, and a thriving food and wine scene. Limassol is also the base for Cyprus's celebrated wineries — the Commandaria dessert wine has been made here for over 3,000 years.

Troodos mountains and painted churches. The Troodos range rises to 1,952 metres at Mount Olympus, home to ten UNESCO-listed Byzantine painted churches with 11th-15th century frescoes that rival anything in Italy or Greece. In winter, Mount Olympus offers skiing; in summer, the mountain villages are 10 degrees cooler than the coast.

Ayia Napa and the best beaches in Europe. Ayia Napa's Nissi Beach and Fig Tree Bay regularly rank among the top beaches in Europe. The coastline ranges from dramatic sea caves and rock formations to sheltered bays with crystal-clear turquoise water. Indian citizens who want to visit Cyprus for tourism, holidays, or to visit family and friends apply for a Category C short-stay visa through VFS Global centres across India or the High Commission of Cyprus in New Delhi. The visa allows stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

There is no e-Visa option for Indian citizens. You must obtain a paper sticker visa before travel. Airlines at Indian airports will deny boarding without a valid Cyprus visa or qualifying Schengen visa.

• Employment proof — Salary slips for the last 3 months, ITR for the last 2 years, and an employer NOC on company letterhead with your approved leave dates.

Cover letter — A brief, honest letter explaining why you are visiting Cyprus, your day-by-day itinerary, how the trip is funded, and why you will return to India. Name specific places like the Paphos mosaics, Kourion archaeological site, Troodos mountains or Ayia Napa beaches. All of it can be written in English — no Greek or Turkish translation is needed.

Old passports — If you have previous travel history to Europe, the UK, the US, Australia or other developed countries, include copies of old passports with those visa stamps. Strong travel history is one of the most helpful factors in Cyprus visa approval.

The Cyprus visa application runs through VFS Global, which handles the paperwork for the High Commission of Cyprus in New Delhi. Here is the compressed step-by-step:

1. Book an appointment at a VFS Global centre — walk-in services are available since August 2025, but appointments are recommended during peak season (May-September, December-January).
2. Fill in the Cyprus visa application form — available on the High Commission website or at VFS. Ensure all details match your passport exactly.
3. Gather your documents — passport, photographs (35mm x 45mm), flight reservation, hotel bookings, bank statements, employment proof, travel insurance, and cover letter.
4. Pay the visa fee of EUR 90 (approximately ₹8,300-8,500) plus the VFS service charge of approximately ₹541 — payment methods vary by VFS centre (cash, card, or demand draft — confirm before your appointment).

Using the wrong photograph size. Cyprus requires 35mm x 45mm photographs, which is different from the Indian passport standard of 3.5cm x 4.5cm. The photos must be taken within the last 6 months, face covering 70-80% of the photo, no glasses, and signed on the back. Using the wrong format leads to delays.

Assuming a Schengen visa covers Cyprus automatically. A standard single-entry Schengen visa does NOT cover Cyprus. Only a valid double or multiple-entry Schengen visa that has been used at least once allows visa-free entry to Cyprus. If you have a single-entry Schengen visa, you still need a separate Cyprus visa.

Paphos mosaics and ancient wonders. The Roman mosaics of the House of Dionysus, House of Theseus and House of Aion are among the finest in the Mediterranean — intricate scenes from Greek mythology preserved in stunning detail after 2,000 years. The Tombs of the Kings, carved into rock cliffs, and the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite complete one of the richest archaeological experiences in Europe.

Kourion, the clifftop city. An ancient Greco-Roman city perched on a cliff 100 metres above the sea, with a perfectly preserved 2,000-seat amphitheatre that still hosts summer performances, elaborate floor mosaics, and panoramic views of the coastline. It is one of the most dramatic archaeological sites in the Mediterranean.

Troodos painted churches and mountain villages. Ten Byzantine churches in the Troodos mountains are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, containing 11th-15th century frescoes that are among the finest examples of Byzantine art anywhere. The mountain villages of Omodos, Kalopanayiotis and Kakopetria are charming stone-built retreats with tavernas serving traditional Cypriot food.

Ayia Napa and the best beaches in Europe. Nissi Beach, Fig Tree Bay, and Konnos Beach regularly rank among the top beaches in Europe — white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water, and dramatic sea caves.
