It is possible to extend the Romanian student permit under certain circumstances. In cases where your study or training is extended, you may be able to apply for an extension. In all other cases, you will have to leave the country upon expiry of your visa.
Once your student permit has expired, you will not be able to stay any longer. You are expected to leave the country before the expiry date. Staying back after expiry without a valid extension is considered as an offence and can lead to hefty fines or even deportation. You will also be banned from re-entering the country in the future.

No, it is not possible to convert your student permit into a work permit. You are also not allowed to work full-time in Romania without a valid permit. If you require the work permit, you must return to your home country and apply for a new one.
