Belarus Visa for Indians 2026: Fees, Process & Types

Belarus offers Indian passport holders three different entry paths. Choosing the wrong one is the #1 mistake Indians make when planning a Belarus trip.

Route 1: Visa-Free Entry via Belarus Airports

Indian nationals can enter Belarus without a prior visa if they meet ALL of these conditions:

• Arrive and depart through one of 6 Belarus airports: Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Mogilev, or Vitebsk
• Hold a valid multi-entry EU or Schengen visa (C-type or D-type) that has been used at least once (entry stamp required)
• Stay no longer than 30 days
• Do NOT arrive from or depart to Russia
• Have a valid air ticket with departure from one of the 6 participating airports

This visa-free facility was introduced in 2017 and expanded in 2021. It is temporary — valid until 31 December 2026 and may be extended. It does NOT apply to land borders or transits through Russia. If your flight routes through Moscow, you need an embassy visa or e-Visa regardless of your Schengen status.

Route 2: e-Visa (Launched March 2025)

Since March 2025, Belarus offers an electronic visa (e-Visa) for citizens of 67 countries including India. Apply online at e-pasluga.by — no embassy visit required.

Key details:

• Fee: EUR 66 (EUR 60 consular + EUR 6 service fee)
• Processing: 7 calendar days
• Type: Single-entry, up to 30 days
• Entry points: All international airports AND land/rail border crossings
• Advantage over visa-free: Works for Russia transit and land border entry

When to choose e-Visa over visa-free: If you are transiting through Russia, entering via land border, or want more flexibility.

Route 3: Embassy Visa (Standard Process)

If you do NOT qualify for visa-free entry or e-Visa — because you lack a Schengen visa, are staying beyond 30 days, or need a work/student visa — you must apply for a Belarus visa at the Embassy in New Delhi or the Honorary Consulate in Mumbai before travel.

The visa type depends on your purpose: tourism, business, study, work, or transit. Each type requires specific supporting documents, including a visa invitation from a registered Belarus organisation.

Tourist Visa

Business Visa

For attending meetings, conferences, trade fairs, or professional engagements. Student Visa

Work Visa

For those with a valid job offer from a Belarus employer. The employer must initiate the work permit process through the Belarus Ministry of Internal Affairs before you apply for the visa.

Transit Visa

For transiting through Belarus by land within 48 hours. Requires valid visa support documents for the onward destination and a confirmed itinerary.

Official Visa Fees

Currency note: INR figures are approximate based on EUR 1 = ₹91.7. Fees are payable in Indian Rupees through RBL Bank — the Embassy does not accept cash or card payments. Confirm the exact INR amount at the time of your appointment.

Payment Process — RBL Bank Only

Belarus visa fees must be deposited at an RBL Bank branch near the Embassy in New Delhi. The consular officer will tell you the exact INR amount during your appointment. You must:

1. Visit RBL Bank after your Embassy appointment
2. Deposit the fee with reference to your surname
3. Return to the Embassy with the deposit slip before 12:30 PM on the same day

No cash or card payments are accepted at the Embassy. Payment procedures are set by the Embassy and may change — confirm current instructions when you book your appointment.

Core Documents (All Visa Types)

• Valid original Indian passport with at least 6 months validity from entry date, with at least two blank pages
• One duly completed visa application form (filled in block letters in English or Russian, signed personally)
• One recent colour photograph (35 x 45 mm, full face, light background, not older than 6 months)
• Original visa support documents (visa invitation) depending on visa type

• Hotel booking confirmation on official letterhead sent directly from the hotel (not from booking.com)
• Confirmed return flight itinerary
• Personal bank account statement for the last 3-6 months showing minimum EUR 25 per day of stay (or pay slip from employer)
• Copy of birth certificate (for applicants under 18 years)
• Copies of parents' passports (for minor applicants)

Photo Specifications: 35 x 45 mm colour photograph with a plain light background, full face (70-80% of the picture), no sunglasses or head covering unless for ethnic or religious reasons. High resolution, not older than 6 months.

Per-Visa-Type Documents

Tourist: Official visa invitation from a registered Belarus tourist organisation confirming the purpose and duration of stay.

Business: Invitation letter from the Belarus host company on official letterhead, company registration documents, and a letter from the applicant's employer in India confirming the purpose of visit.

Student: Admission letter from the Belarus educational institution, proof of tuition fee payment, and evidence of sufficient funds for living expenses.

Work: Valid work permit issued by the Belarus Ministry of Internal Affairs, employment contract, and employer registration documents. The employer must initiate the work permit process before you apply for the visa.

Transit: Valid visa support documents for the onward destination, confirmed itinerary showing transit through Belarus within 48 hours, and proof of sufficient funds for the transit period.

A bank statement for the last 3-6 months showing a consistent balance of ₹1.5–2 lakh is typically sufficient for a Belarus tourist visa. The official minimum is EUR 25 per day of stay (approximately ₹2,300/day). Fixed deposit certificates can supplement income proof. Education loan sanction letters work as proof of funds for student visa applicants.

HDFC Bank: Request a statement on official letterhead with the branch stamp and signatory details.

ICICI Bank: Generate an e-statement through iMobile or net banking, then get it stamped at the branch for added credibility.

SBI: Use the online statement printed at home, accompanied by a branch-stamped summary page.

Avoid large, unexplained deposits close to your application date — they raise questions. If you are self-employed, include business registration papers and income tax returns. If employed, attach salary slips for the last 3 months along with an employment verification letter.

For sponsored trips, include your sponsor's bank statements and a signed sponsorship declaration.

Step 1: Book an Appointment

Send an email to india.consul@mfa.gov.by with:

• Your purpose of visit
• How long you plan to stay
• Name of the inviting company or person
• Your permanent address in India

Wait for the Embassy to reply with a confirmed date and time slot. Appointments are not available by phone — email is the only way. Since October 2024, the Embassy requires mandatory prior appointment for all applications.

Step 2: Prepare Your Documents

Gather all required documents per the checklist above. Fill the visa application form in block letters in English or Russian. Get your bank statements stamped at your bank branch. Arrange medical insurance valid in Belarus with minimum EUR 10,000 coverage. Make sure your hotel booking confirmation comes on official hotel letterhead.

Step 3: Submit in Person at the Embassy

Visit the Embassy of Belarus in New Delhi on your scheduled appointment date (Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–12:30 PM). You must submit all documents in person — no agents or couriers. The consular officer will review your application and tell you the exact visa fee amount in INR.

For applicants in Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Lakshadweep, the Honorary Consulate in Mumbai may accept applications. Email mumbai@mfa.gov.by for an appointment.

Step 4: Pay the Fee at RBL Bank

Head to the nearest RBL Bank branch to deposit the visa fee with reference to your surname. Return to the Embassy with the deposit slip before 12:30 PM on the same day. The Embassy does not accept cash or card payments.

Step 5: Collect Your Passport

Standard processing takes 5 business days. If you apply on Monday, your passport will typically be ready by Friday at 9:30 AM. For express processing (48 hours, extra fee), it may be ready the next working day. Collect your passport from the Embassy during designated hours (Monday–Thursday, 2:30 PM–3:30 PM).

Embassy of Belarus — New Delhi

Honorary Consulate of Belarus — Mumbai

The Mumbai Honorary Consulate accepts visa applications from applicants residing in its jurisdiction. If you are from other states, you must apply at the Embassy in New Delhi.

Belarus does not require biometric data (fingerprints or digital photographs) for Indian passport holders applying for a visa. The entire process is document-based with no biometric enrolment step. This makes the Belarus visa process simpler than Schengen, UK, or US visa applications which all require in-person biometric submission.

Since there is no biometric requirement, applicants do not need to visit any VFS Global, TLScontact, or other third-party centre. The entire process is handled directly by the Embassy or Honorary Consulate.

Tip: Most Indian travellers flying from Delhi, Mumbai, or other Indian cities to Minsk transit through Russia. Check whether your flight itinerary transits through Moscow — if yes, you need both a Belarus e-visa/embassy visa and a Russian transit visa. If you have a Schengen visa, consider routing through a European city (Warsaw, Vilnius, Riga) to qualify for visa-free entry via Belarus airports.

Registration Requirement

You must register with local Belarus authorities if staying more than 10 calendar days. If staying in a hotel, the hotel handles registration automatically. For private accommodation, your host must register you at the local passport office (OVIR) or via the online portal. Stays of 10 days or less do not require registration.

Visa-Free Entry — What to Carry

Important Rules

• Belarus uses the Belarusian ruble (BYN). ATMs are available at Minsk Airport and cities
• English is not widely spoken outside Minsk — learn basic Russian phrases or carry a translation app
• SIM cards are available at the airport from A1, MTS, and life: networks
