Singapore Business Visa for Indians 2026: Fees, Requirements & Process

A Singapore business visa is a short-term entry permit issued by Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority that lets Indian professionals enter Singapore for legitimate business activities — meetings, conferences, trade fairs, negotiations, site visits and client meetings. It is not a work permit and does not authorize employment in Singapore.

What makes Singapore's system different from most other countries: you cannot apply directly to the embassy or online through ICA yourself. All applications must go through an Authorised Visa Agent in India, who submits your e-visa through ICA's online system. The agent charges a fixed service fee on top of the government fee. The fee is the same for business, tourist and social visit visas — the difference is in the supporting documents you provide.

Singapore assesses four things: you must have a legitimate business purpose for the visit, sufficient funds to support yourself during the stay, a valid passport with at least 6 months remaining, and strong ties to your home country that give you a reason to leave Singapore after your visit.

Who CAN apply:

• Salaried employees in IT, engineering, pharma, manufacturing, finance, consulting or trade, sent by their Indian employer for meetings, conferences or site visits in Singapore
• Company owners and directors meeting Singapore-based partners, clients or suppliers
• Self-employed professionals and consultants attending business meetings or conferences
• Importers and exporters attending trade fairs, exhibitions or buyer-supplier meetings in Singapore
• Conference and seminar delegates, including speakers
• Anyone making business enquiries, exploring partnerships or doing market research
• Employees overseeing delivery of goods or services between India and Singapore

Who CANNOT apply:

• Job seekers — the visa does not permit entering the Singapore labour market
• Anyone who will be paid by a Singapore-based organization or client for work done in Singapore
• Anyone planning to run or manage a business in Singapore
• Anyone who intends to stay beyond 30 days without applying for an extension
• Freelancers or independent consultants providing services to Singapore clients

Singapore's rules distinguish between short business visit activities and productive work that requires a work pass from the Ministry of Manpower. The line matters: attending a meeting is fine; delivering services to a client is not.

One important nuance: if your activity could be described as "productive work" — delivering a service, writing code for a Singapore client, or training Singapore employees — you need a work pass from MOM, not a business visa. The distinction is whether you are visiting to discuss business or doing business.

Singapore does not have separate visa categories for business, tourism or family visits — the same entry visa covers all short-term visits. The differences are in the supporting documents you provide and the purpose you declare.

For most Indian business travelers, the standard short-term business visit visa — issued as a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 2 years — is the right choice. First-time applicants may receive shorter validity; clean travel history and previous Singapore entries increase your chances of getting the full 2 years.

The 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF): if you hold a valid visa or long-term pass from Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States, you may enter Singapore without a business visa for up to 96 hours while transiting to or from a third country. You can enter by any mode of transport but must depart only by air or sea, with a confirmed onward ticket within 96 hours. This is a transit facility, not a substitute for a business visa if your primary purpose is a business visit.

The single most useful distinction in a Singapore business visa file. ICA checks that your occupation evidence matches your application — employees prove it through their employer, owners and self-employed applicants through registration and financials. Every document should be clear, with names matching the passport exactly.

The invitation letter from your Singapore business partner — along with Form V39A (Letter of Introduction) — is the most important supporting document in a business visa file. ICA requires a local contact (Singapore citizen or permanent resident, aged 21 or older, with a SingPass account) to sign Form V39A on behalf of the Singapore-registered business entity. If you cannot secure a local contact, an LOI issued by the Singapore High Commission or Consulate may be accepted.

What the letter must contain:

The letter should be on company letterhead as a single PDF in English. If the trip is for a trade fair or conference, attach the event registration confirmation alongside the invitation.

The letter should arrive as a single PDF in English. Form V39A must be completed by the local contact separately — it is an ICA form, not a company letter.

For salaried applicants, the covering letter on the Indian company letterhead confirms employment, salary, approved leave and the business reason for travel. It is one of the most important documents in the file — it proves you have a job to return to in India.

Self-employed applicants do not need this letter. Instead, prepare a business declaration stating the business name, registration details, the purpose of the Singapore visit and the client relationship, supported by GST registration, a CA certificate of business standing and business bank statements.

Both templates are samples — align them with the exact details on your invitation letter, Form V39A and flight itinerary before submission.

Both the government fee and the agent service charge are non-refundable if the visa is refused. There is no extra charge for urgent processing — the Consulate-General Mumbai confirmed this explicitly. Some agents may add their own handling, courier or SMS fees on top — always ask for the all-in figure before submitting.

Every step below is the current official process for Indian applicants. The key difference from most other countries: you cannot apply directly to ICA or the Singapore diplomatic mission. All applications go through an Authorised Visa Agent.

1. Confirm the business visit visa fits your trip. Your activities must be meetings, conferences, trade fairs, negotiations or site visits. If you will be paid by a Singapore entity or deliver services to Singapore clients, you need a work pass from MOM instead.

2. Get the invitation letter and Form V39A first. Your Singapore host provides the invitation on letterhead with UEN, and a local contact (Singapore citizen or PR, aged 21+, with SingPass) completes Form V39A. Without a local contact, you can request an LOI from the Singapore High Commission — but this is not guaranteed.

3. Prepare your documents. Form 14A (download from ICA website), passport photo (35x45mm, white background, taken within 3 months), passport biodata page copy, covering letter, bank statements, flight booking and hotel reservation. Do not book non-refundable tickets before visa approval.

4. Choose an Authorised Visa Agent. The official list is available on the Singapore High Commission (new-delhi.mfa.gov.sg) and Consulate-General (mumbai.mfa.gov.sg, chennai.mfa.gov.sg) websites. Verify the agent is on the official list before paying. Major agents include VFS Global and BLS International, plus regional agents in each jurisdiction.

5. Submit your application to the agent. The agent verifies your documents, fills the e-visa application online through ICA's system, and collects the government fee (INR 2,100) plus their service charge. You receive a reference number.

6. Wait for processing. Standard processing is 3-5 working days (excluding the submission day, weekends and public holidays). Some applications take longer. Apply at least 2-3 weeks before travel — ICA advises applying within 30 days of arrival, but agents need time for document review.

7. Receive your e-Visa. If approved, the agent prints your e-Visa. Check every detail — name spelling, passport number, validity dates, number of entries — before leaving the agent's office. Report any errors immediately.

8. Complete the SG Arrival Card. Before you fly, file the SG Arrival Card (SGAC) online — a free declaration within 3 days before arrival, including the arrival day. From 30 January 2026, airlines can deny boarding in India if your SGAC is missing. The SGAC is separate from your visa — you need both.

Singapore does not have visa application centres in India in the way Schengen or UK countries do. Instead, applications are submitted through Authorised Visa Agents located in major cities, each operating under the jurisdiction of a specific Singapore diplomatic mission.

Official figures, per ICA and Singapore diplomatic missions in India:

The processing clock starts from the day the agent submits your application to ICA, not from the day you give documents to the agent. Agent document review adds 1-2 days. There is no premium or priority service — ICA processes all applications in the same queue.

When you arrive at Changi Airport, you go through immigration clearance with your passport and e-Visa printout. The officer scans your passport and sees your visa and SG Arrival Card in the system. You are then issued an e-Pass (digital Visit Pass) via email — there is no physical stamp or sticker in your passport since March 2022.

The e-Pass notification shows your authorized stay period and the last day of stay allowed. This period (typically 14 to 30 days) is determined by the ICA officer at the checkpoint — it is not necessarily the full validity of your visa. Check your email after clearing immigration to confirm your stay period.

ICA officers may ask about your business purpose, accommodation, return plans and funds — answer clearly and confidently. Keep a printed copy of your e-Visa and a business card from your Singapore host handy.
